Our Story

Inspired by our innumerable and close encounters with the Latin American culture and people over past near 2 decades we decided to share the soul and spirit of one of the most colorful regions of the world in a pioneering format - bringing together the nuances of Spanish language - the fastest growing foreign language, and the energy and fun quotient of Salsa - the most popular and social dance form on the planet, from their original Latin roots....creating a latin world in India!

We were born on 28th Oct 2008 in New Delhi, with the primary goal of “Creating a Latin World in India” So why did we have to be pretty much the first such private institution, anywhere in this part of the world, attempting this goal? For starters we had fallen in love with Spanish as a language, and wanted to share with the people here in India that in Cuba they don’t speak ‘Cuban’, in Mexico not ‘Mexican’, in Colombia not ‘Colombian’ and in Argentina not ‘Argentine’ – in fact almost 90% of native speakers of Spanish come from Latin America. Having traveled to and experienced the beautiful Latin America and Spain on several occasions we wanted to share the joy of life and energy from another world, separated by thousands of miles from India geographically and yet so much like us! And when we mixed this with the quintessential soul of Latin world, one of the most popular dance forms on the planet – Salsa, we had the perfect recipe brewing for welcoming people to Mundo Latino to experience the incredible Hispanic culture, with breathtaking vignettes from Latin American countries in unison with Spain.

About the Founders of Mundo Latino

Shalu Chopra

Shalu Chopra is a multi-faceted creative individual and an illustrious alumna of Delhi University(Gargi College). She has studied design at NIFT, New Delhi. She has over 14 yrs and 14000 hrs of Spanish teaching experience and trained over 5000 students during this time. Over the years she has been invited by top corporates and Educational Institutes to share nuances of Spanish language. She is the only Indian origin trainer to design and author a series of Spanish learning manuals – Viva Latino Español 1& 2. She has been awarded 2 Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) by the Govt of India for the originality and uniqueness of her content and training methodology - “SWIRRL”, which lays emphasis on the ‘Interaction’ piece in overall language development. She is recognized as one of the leading Spanish trainers of the country and one of the most active Ambassadors for promoting Hispanic culture in India. Shalu has received highest accolades from top Academia and Latin American Ambassadors for her efforts and impact in this area.

Sunil Chopra is a product of IIM Lucknow and a Mech. Engg. He has been a very successful and awarded professional in the industry for over 30 yrs, having served on several Boards and worked with brands such as GE, Nokia, Xerox, Sapient. He has been an entrepreneur for over 17yrs. He has keen interest and investments in education industry. He is the co-founder of a global Technology Consulting firm with operations across US, Europe and India. He is also the Organizer of India Fiesta Latina (IFL) – One of the Biggest Latin Dance Productions of Asia and an Awarded event. He is invited at leading Institutions for addressing students on shaping careers and lives.

Mundo Latino is a place where one can learn Spanish easily because the way they teach is beyond excellent coz the language should not be mugged up it should be absorbed slowly by practical usage and In Mundo Latino Fernanda Ma`am spoke on Spanish and we use to guess what she is saying. You can now understand how our thought process must be in class. Ma`am use pictorial tricks and expressions to explain the meaning of new words. It`s been a very good experience in level one and now me and my friends are pursuing for level 2 now. Many of you must be having doubts regarding the fees structure and Timing if you are having a hectic schedule. I guarantee you that You will be able to get time as weekend batches are available and if I talk about fees it is very affordable.
